For many people a fuller and more sensuous mouth comes high on their wish list. From our late twenties our lips start to become thinner with fine lines eventually starting to appear around the mouth. By injecting a small amount of natural hyaluronic filler you can restore your lips back to their formal glory. Whether its to add lost volume or just to redefine the lip contours you will be impressed by our instant results with CosMedocs lip enhancement procedures. You decide how subtle / obvious you want your new lips to appear.
Lips can be re-contoured to bring the youthful look back by placing gel along the lip borders (vermillion). Redefining this edge with natural fillers lead to a more youthful and appealing look. It also prevents lipstick "bleeding" into the small lines around the lips. The fold that extends up towards the nose (philtrum ridges) can be defined by injecting the gel into them (Cupid's Bow Definition). To achieve optimal results a combination of steps are often used which are individually tailored to suit you (see picture below).

Lip volume enhancement (medium) - Peri-Oral Lines (Upper & Lower Lips)
|
One of the most effective ways to achieve a more friendly and inviting look is through non-surgical lip enhancement. At CosMedocs, we utilize non-permanent safe dermal fillers such as Teosyal, Juvéderm and Restylane to help achieve a more alluring look in a short period of time. We can also help reverse a downward smile, add volume to thinning lips, slightly lengthen the mouth, and smooth out vertical lines that extend from the lip border (smoker’s lines) or that extend downward from the corners of the mouth (marionette lines) – all non-surgically.
Unless…you are simply seeking a more voluptuous, sexy appearance with more lip volume, this can be achieved virtually overnight. |

Lip Contouring

Peri-Oral Lines, Lip Bleeding Correction
To further enhance the effect, the lines that go up towards the nose (philtrum ridges - see picture below) can be defined by injecting the dermal filler into them, as well. To achieve the optimal result, a combination of these steps is often used. This is a procedure where experience is of great importance. To avoid an unnatural look (the “duckbill look / Trout ", or an unbalanced lip), your choice of injector is paramount. Always choose a doctor who has performed many (preferably hundreds) of lip enhancement procedures. It is important that the doctor not only listens to what you hope to achieve, but has an artful eye as well. We do not use silicone or fat injections when contouring lips because in clinical studies risks of uneven results and migration of the products (which is difficult to control or predict) can lead to an odd, unnatural look in some instances. Also, the corners of the mouth (oral commissures) deepen over time as volume is lost from the face. This may be present along with the marionette line, or by itself. These conditions cause you to look unhappy even when you’re not and are one of the biggest contributors to an aged appearance. Marionette lines and deep oral commissures are treated much the
same way. Precisely placed dermal filler, in the area below the
corners,

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take for the lip enhancement to work? The procedure takes about 20-30 minutes and the results are instant.
What can and can't I do after lip enhancement? You can carry on life as normal as any redness can be covered with makeup. You should leave the treated area alone for 48 hours to let it settle. It is advisable to not have a facial or similar treatment that may disturb the products or expose the newly-treated areas to strong sunlight for 2-3 days.
How long does the lip injections last for?For about 6-12 months. On the average 8 months.
How often will I need to top up?Most patients have top-ups when they feel the effect is starting to wear off ie any time between 6 and 12 months.
Are there any side-effects of lip injections with restylane or hydrafill? After the treatment there may be some redness and minimal swelling, which normally settles in 1-2 days. Very occasionally patients can suffer some bruising at the injection site.
Who is suitable for lip enhancement?Almost everyone apart from those who are pregnant or breast feeding.
What happens if I do not have subsequent treatments?Correction of the wrinkles and the enhanced lip effect will subside gradually until your skin looks like it did before the treatment.
Are there any long-term problems to lip enhancement? No, because it is completely natural (restylane and hydrafill) and over time can be completely broken down by the body.
Are the lip injection painful? No, as doctors do all the treatments we are able to use local anaesthetic injections which allow the treatment to be pain-free and comfortable.
Can it be used with Botox with lip enhancement?Yes, and we quite regularly use them together to create the best effect.
Why is Non-Permanent Better Than Permanent?Non Permanent Dermal Fillers like restylane or hydrafill always leave you with the option of re-evaluating your needs when the initial effect has worn off. You will always have the option of continuing or changing the combination of treatments. With Permanent Fillers any unwanted cosmetic effect or facial asymmetry due to injection is permanent.
